Remove caste discrimination
India cannot become a truly modern and equal democracy while caste continues to influence discrimination, violence, social status, marriage, education, employment opportunities, and political behaviour. Even today, caste identity still affects how many people are treated in daily life, limiting social mobility and reinforcing inequality across generations. A democratic society cannot fully succeed when a person’s dignity, opportunity, or safety is influenced by birth rather than individual capability and character.
Democracy 2.0 should therefore aim to gradually eliminate caste-based discrimination from public and social life while continuing constitutional and institutional support for historically disadvantaged communities until meaningful equality is achieved. The goal should not be to ignore existing inequalities or pretend they no longer exist, but to create a society where caste becomes socially and politically irrelevant over time.
This would require stronger enforcement of anti-discrimination laws, faster action against caste-based violence and exclusion, equal access to education and public services, fair opportunities in employment, and broader social reform through education and public awareness. The long-term objective should be a society where citizens are treated with equal dignity and judged by their abilities, actions, and contributions rather than caste identity.
