Direct decision-making by people

Major public decisions should not be made behind closed doors or presented to citizens only after they have already been finalized. Decisions involving national or state budgets, large infrastructure projects, new laws, tax changes, education reforms, healthcare policies, and environmental regulations should follow a transparent democratic process. First, the proposal should be published in a clear and accessible format. Then, the government should explain the purpose, expected benefits, financial cost, risks, and possible alternatives.

Citizens should be given enough time to study the proposal, understand its impact, and participate in a structured public debate. Expert opinions, cost-benefit analysis, legal implications, and opposing viewpoints should also be made available in simple language. After public feedback is collected, the proposal should be revised where necessary before any final decision is made. If a vote-like mechanism is used, it should happen only after citizens have received balanced information and enough time to make an informed choice.
