The real question is simple: do we want clean streets only during campaigns, or do we want a civic culture where cleanliness becomes normal every day. As someone who spent almost 12 years in the US tech industry, this article feels very accurate. Most people in India think everyone is rushing back because they suddenly became patriotic. That's not really what's happening. The H-1B and green card situation wears people down over time. At some point, you start wondering why you're planning your entire life around immigration paperwork.
