This issue is much harder than people on social media make it sound. On one hand, every country has the right to enforce its immigration laws. On the other hand, there are often families, children, and long-term residents involved. A person who crossed the border twenty years ago is not the same case as someone who arrived last month. Treating every situation identically may sound fair, but it rarely produces practical outcomes.
