Arrests, bans, sedition cases and communication restrictions may control the streets for a few days, but they will not solve the underlying problem. People are protesting because they feel ignored economically and politically. A government that responds only with force may win the immediate confrontation, but it usually loses public trust in the long run. Dialogue, transparency and accountability are the only sustainable way forward.
