About
Formed in 1970, CITU is a major central trade union affiliated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). CITU has organized and led large-scale general strikes and sectoral protests (public sector, anti-privatization, labour code oppositions). Leadership comes from CPI(M)-aligned trade union leaders and cadres.
