Britain has been urged to resolve Nepal’s long-running border dispute using its colonial-era maps.
Balendra Shah, Nepal’s prime minister, said his country’s claim to the Himalayas region was supported by 19th-century maps drawn up by Britain during its rule of India.
Mr Shah said the Nepalese government had formally requested that Britain mediate in the territorial row.
“We have spoken not only with India and China but also with the British Government. Our view is that England should also take an interest, as the issue dates back to the period when the British ruled India,” said Mr Shah.
